Recognising the people who shape our industry
The TDR Apprenticeship Awards celebrate outstanding apprentices and the employers who back them. It is a night to say thank you to the people who put in the hours, and to the businesses that give them the chance to prove what they can do.
TDR has a long history of skills development in the region, rooted in its engineering and shipbuilding heritage. That tradition of training runs through everything we do, and these awards are a natural extension of it.
The awards also look to the future, and the next generation of engineers, scientists and business professionals coming through. They are proof of what apprenticeships can build, one person at a time.

A first year apprentice who has excelled from day one. Amber achieved Distinctions in every unit, meets every deadline and lifts everyone around her. Her positivity, independence and involvement in Cadets mark her out as a learner with a very bright future.
Luke joined BEL Valves as an HSE apprentice in 2021 and now manages key HSE functions including audits, compliance and sustainability. His work has improved safety, reduced emissions and helped achieve zero waste to landfill. A trusted team member with all the qualities of a future leader.
A brilliant student with exceptional maths skills and a real depth of engineering knowledge. Will finds multiple solutions to the same problem, excels at CAD modelling and consistently goes above and beyond. His passion and professionalism shine through in everything he does.
Cole relocated independently to join Purmo Group in 2022 and quickly became a valued member of the Design Department. Alongside completing his HNC he manages a major client as a trusted heating consultant, mentors fellow apprentices and drives constant improvement.
A dedicated fabrication apprentice who delivers precise, high quality work every time. Jackson is quick to learn, calm under pressure and supportive of his team, with outstanding End Point Assessment accounts that show real maturity and commitment to growth.
Jamie switched apprenticeships to join Trinity and caught up fast, taking ownership of an early project and exceeding every expectation. Punctual despite a long commute, excellent in college and a natural mentor to his peers, he consistently goes above and beyond.
Dylan came from a garage background in 2023 and adapted fast, embracing new skills with enthusiasm and a strong work ethic. He works independently, solves problems well and willingly supports the team, including covering night shifts when needed.
Alex plays a vital role deploying clean hydrogen and battery technologies that support a zero emission future. Outside work he is a Scout leader, mentoring young people in leadership and environmental awareness. Technical skill, initiative and dedication in equal measure.
Emma created her own role through sheer attitude, moving from the hygiene department into engineering maintenance. She meets every deadline, works ahead of target and balances shifts, BTEC studies, NVQ assessments and an engineering degree with exceptional commitment.
Emily joined in July 2024 after deciding university was not the right path and quickly became essential to the Accounts and HR department. She shows initiative, professionalism and calm under pressure, and played a key role in supporting an external verifier visit.
Thomas faced early challenges balancing functional skills, a demanding role and his Diploma in Process Technology. He committed fully, improved rapidly and earned a Distinction at End Point Assessment with outstanding feedback. An inspiring story of growth and resilience.
A standout performer since 2021, Luke has led audits, carbon emission tracking and safety improvements, and now manages the site HSE Key Performance Indicators. His dedication, leadership and resilience make him a worthy double winner this year.
