Course Overview

A fixed, 8-unit Higher National Certificate is proposed by TDR Training LTD’s Learning and Development Department. The qualification is aligned with the apprenticeship standard: L4 Engineering Electronics Technician. The course aims to guide learners to equip students with sector-specific skills, knowledge, and understanding which is necessary to achieve high performance in the engineering industry.

1st Year Units

  • Unit 4001: Engineering Design
  • Unit 4002: Engineering Maths
  • Unit 4004: Managing a Professional Engineering Project
  • Unit 4014: Production Engineering for Manufacture

2nd Year Units

  • Unit 4015: Automation Robotics and PLC
  • Unit 4017: Quality and Process Improvement
  • Unit 4019: Electrical and Electronic Principles
  • Unit 4021: Electrical Machines

Entry criteria

Learners wishing to join the programme must have a Level 2 Maths and English qualification a 4/C or above. Learners should have an appropriate Level 3 qualification in Engineering or an analogous subject where at least 50% of the course content is related to engineering.
