NVQ Level 3 Mechanical
NVQ Level 3 Mechanical
Course Overview
The EAL Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering is a work-based qualification designed to formally assess and certify the occupational competence of advanced mechanical manufacturing technicians. Awarded by EAL, the specialist awarding body for engineering and manufacturing qualifications, this programme recognises the skills required to assemble, fit, manufacture, and commission complex mechanical systems in modern industrial environments.
Learners will develop competence across core engineering practices including health and safety compliance, effective workplace communication, and manufacturing quality standards. The qualification also offers specialist pathways aligned to job roles such as mechanical fitting, toolmaking, pipe fitting, assembly operations, and CNC manufacturing systems.
Assessment is completed entirely in the workplace, ensuring learners demonstrate real occupational competence through practical engineering tasks rather than written examinations.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the programme, learners will be able to:
- Apply health, safety, and statutory regulations within manufacturing environments
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and assembly instructions
- Assemble, fit, and manufacture mechanical components and systems
- Use hand tools, measuring equipment, and manufacturing equipment safely
- Carry out mechanical fitting, assembly, or machining tasks to specification
- Inspect components and assemblies to ensure quality and compliance standards
- Work effectively within engineering teams and manufacturing workflows
- Demonstrate competence within a specialist mechanical manufacturing pathway
