Course Overview
The EAL Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Fabrication and Welding Engineering is a work-based qualification designed to validate the occupational competence of advanced fabricators and welders working within heavy engineering environments. Awarded by EAL, the specialist awarding body for engineering qualifications, this programme confirms a learner’s ability to carry out complex fabrication and welding activities safely, accurately, and to industrial standards.
Learners will develop competence across core engineering practices including health and safety compliance, interpretation of engineering drawings, and efficient working practices. The qualification also allows specialisation in areas such as MIG, TIG, and MMA welding processes, structural steel fabrication, sheet metal work, and heavy plate fabrication depending on workplace requirements.
Assessment is conducted entirely in the workplace, ensuring learners demonstrate real-world competence through practical fabrication and welding tasks rather than theoretical examinations.
