NVQ Level 3 Design
NVQ Level 3 Engineering Technical Support (CAD/Design)
Course Overview
The EAL Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Engineering Technical Support (CAD/Design Pathway) is a work-based qualification designed for apprentice design engineers, CAD technicians, and engineering professionals involved in producing technical drawings, design data, and engineering documentation. Awarded by EAL, the programme develops and validates the occupational competence required to support engineering design and manufacturing activities within modern industrial environments.
Learners will develop skills in engineering drawing production, 3D modelling, design modification, technical communication, and the application of engineering standards using industry-standard CAD software. The qualification combines core engineering principles with practical design activities, enabling learners to produce accurate engineering documentation that supports manufacturing, maintenance, and development projects.
Delivered entirely through workplace-based learning, the programme provides learners with the opportunity to demonstrate competence through real engineering projects and day-to-day design activities.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the programme, learners will be able to:
- Apply health, safety, and environmental requirements within engineering design environments
- Interpret and produce engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Create and modify 2D and 3D CAD models using industry-standard software
- Apply engineering standards, conventions, and drawing specifications
- Communicate technical information effectively to engineering stakeholders
