Levels, explained plainly
Apprenticeship levels can be confusing, so here is the short version. Level 2 is roughly equivalent to GCSE level, a solid entry point if you are coming straight from school with no prior trade experience. Level 3 is roughly A level equivalent, and is where most of our engineering standards sit once you have the basics down, whether you start there directly or progress up from Level 2.
Once a Level 3 apprenticeship is complete, the natural next step for many of our learners is an HNC. It is part time, studied alongside work, and is genuinely built for people who are already in a job rather than school leavers starting from scratch. What a typical week actually looks like
Most of our apprentices split their time between the employer’s workplace and our Newcastle training centre, on a day release or block release pattern depending on the standard. You are employed and paid throughout, which is the whole point of an apprenticeship: you are not paying to learn, you are being paid while you learn a trade that has a real market value at the end of it.
